Action Steps

Follow-Up From February 8, 2005

Ambulances and First Responders It was agreed that services will be referred to as Transport and Non-Transport services. Ambulances are licensed and thus there is an accurate listing of these services. First Responders are neither licensed nor certified, thus it is not possible to determine accurately how many there are. The list of Assessment respondents is our best list of these services until Rule 113 takes effect. Dennis and Marianne will obtain further information on Rule 113 will be obtained.
Status of WEEPP It was also discussed that further research needs to be done on the need to provide treatment in a disaster without the permission/direction of medical control. Dennis and Marianne will research on treatment in a disaster without direction from medical control

Follow-Up From March 2, 2005

Burn Module This module is in development.
Minutes of March 2, 2005 Approved as written
Trauma Designation Marianne reviewed the hospitals that have declared their trauma designation Marianne will provide the hospital trauma designation spreadsheet to the RTAC Coordinators
Trauma Article The article showed that distances from trauma centers are predictors of fatal outcomes. More data is needed to help with this study. Dennis will provide the authors with the EMS Assessments to provide baseline data.
RTAC Expectations There was discussion regarding the expectations of the RTAC Coordinators from both the perspectives of the RTAC Liaisons and the HRSA Hospital Preparedness Program. It was agreed that there was a close match in the expectations with the ability of the RTAC Coordinators to meet with EMS services being a high priority. This will enable the Coordinators to educate them about the RTAC and all the other initiatives that are being implemented.
WEEPP Training Module There was significant discussion on edits to the WEEPP Training module. It was agreed that a quality product is more important than getting started. It was agreed that all training for WEEPP is to be concluded by 8/31/2006. 1.       By April 29, 2005 the Dennis will provide the RTAC Coordinators with an opportunity to review the edited slides with the narrative through a teleconference.

2.       By April 29, 2005 Dennis will provide the RTAC Coordinators with the documentation necessary to begin implementation of the WEEPP training program.

Funding for EMS There is funding for equipment for EMS available through OJA. The RTAC Coordinators should serve as advocates to EMS to help them become aware of this funding. All requests must be made through the county Emergency Management Director. 1.       The RTAC Coordinators are to communicate with their EMS services about the availability of DHS funds through OJA. All funding requests must be made to the county Emergency Management Director.
