RTAC/ Trauma Coordinators Meeting

TOPIC Course

We are looking to bring the TOPIC Course back to the State of WI.  DHFS doesn’t have the funds to bring it in.  Cost is $5,000 (Max).  The course would teach the Trauma Coordinators a PI process.  $500 per RTAC to bring the course in.

Email response to RTAC funding the class at $500 per RTAC.  Respond to Nettie Jenkins at Theda Care No Later Than October 13th 2006 at 4PM.  nettie.jenkins@thedacare.org.

06 Funding Items

In order to receive $50,000 funding (06), three items need to be completed.  It will be beneficial to get hospital administrators involved in the training/education.  If anyone has ideas on how to get the administrators involved, let Marianne know.

  1. Written RTAC Trauma Plan.  Due June 30, 2007

Include items from initial EMS Needs Assessment

  1. 2 By December 31, 2006 Site Review
  2. 2.  By June 30, 2007 on Registry

Let Marianne Know when workshops are so that she can coordinate someone from either the Registry or Trauma.

Hospital and EMS Incorporation into RTAC Meetings

Greg Friese shared how they run their meetings.  After a larger group meeting, Greg will work with Prehospital providers while someone else will work with hospitals.  Then EMS will also have a pod cast on an educational issue.  Also during the EMS breakout, they may have a case study or other educational issue.

Hospital groups work together prior to or after the meetings to talk through issues with registry or the Trauma System.

Dennis will work with 3 or 4 hospitals to come up with case studies of increased billing due to trauma center designation.

HRSA Hospital and RTAC Preparedness

PEPP Classes.  November 30, 2006 deadline is to have the application signed by either the service director or the medical director.  If the instructor is off of the state approved list, that instructor will be paid directly.  If not, the student will pay for the class and then be reimbursed.  Receipts need to be provided if the student has paid for the class.  Documentation is due to Tracey by the 10th of the month.  If it gets to her on the 11th, it will add 30 days to the turnaround time.

Up to 2 people per service.  EMT-I and EMT-P should take the ALS Course.

FY 2006 Residual Funds.  Greg Snell will be contacting us to see what residual funds are in each RTAC.  If there is money left from 2006, it will be taken away, but, if you identify a use for the money you can write an objective and get the funding back.

OJA Round 2.  Services should take advantage of this funding.  This is the last time the funding will be available.

Follow the Request for Funding sheet in the PEPP Packet.

Tracey will send out a spreadsheet that you should fill out and return on a monthly basis.

Policy on Patient Tracking

RFP going out at the First of the Year through Hospital Bioterrorism.  WARDS could be used for the tracking system by the triage tag number. EMS could send information from the field on the patient with additional software and hardware.

Final specs should be available at the December meeting.

Critical Topics from RTAC Exercises

Handout of RTAC AAR’s.  If there are critical issues that need funding we could look at that for next year we need to look at that starting in December.  There is a lot of good stuff in the AAR.

Read through the larger document and find 5 to 10 of the most critical and send it to Cal by November 15.  calintz@aol.com.      We will come up with 3-5 statewide issues to look at next year.

Use the AAR to work within your region as well.

State Expert Panel on Dispatch

Meets April 8th.   37 on the panel.  Many were turned away.  AAR information has already been disseminated to panel members.  75% of the issues came from the AAR’s.
