State Update

Refer to STAC Minutes from 9/7/05 (attached).

LSRTAC Project Coordinator Report

"Arial Narrow"'>Dan Diamon gave a review of RTAC Coordinators group activities.  Please refer to RTAC Coordinators Minutes from 8/10/05 (attached).  Regional training for WEEPP (Wisconsin EMS Emergency Preparedness Plan) is going well.  The state will eventually standardize triage tags and tracking of patients.  "Triage Tuesday" was suggested as the day all the EMS services use triage tags for everyone to become more familiar with pre-hospital and hospital use.  Dan is going over Trauma Activation Guidelines as he does his WEEPP training with services.  It will also be discussed at the local Bayfield-Ashland Co. EMS Council monthly meetings along with Major Trauma Definition.  A "regional table-top" exercise followed up with a real exercise is a HRSA requirement by September 2006.

Trauma Issues

The Trauma Service is set up at MMC and there have been monthly meetings.  Policies and procedures have been written.  ER staff is becoming more familiar with the process.  There have been several case reviews.  Patient care, admissions, and transfers have been appropriate.

Trauma Registry of cases is manual until the State has everything in place for Level III and Level IV facilities to do their registry online.  This is expected to occur in March or April 2006.

Merrilee is working through STAC to set up Trauma Registrar training through the American Trauma Society which has a 1-1/2 day program.

Website

"Arial Narrow"'>Lake Superior RTAC needs a website manager.  There was discussion whether to contract with the Staples Marketing Firm or with a local agency, Bay Area Technology.  Motion made by Steve Carlson to have a one-year contract with Bay Area Technology and seconded by Karen Hansen.  Motion carried.

Proposed Bylaws Changes

"Arial Narrow"'>Proposed bylaws were reviewed by the group.  More changes were made and will be presented at the next meeting.

Elections

"Arial Narrow"'>Randy Forstrom regretfully resigns as Vice-Chair due to increased job and teaching responsibilities.

"Arial Narrow"'>It is the intention of LSRTAC to update the Executive Council membership.  We want actively participating members from more diverse specialties but realize that may be difficult.  We are hoping to get more pre-hospital EMS members along with Public Health, Dispatch, Law Enforcement, and Tribal representation.

Merrilee will contact Executive Council members for continued interest or resignation.  Please let her know of any nominations for Vice-Chair or Executive Council.  Ballots will be made for the next meeting.

Injury Prevention

Outreach Projects

Education

"Arial Narrow"'>Dan Diamon obtained the “Teen Driving” educational program from Geico.  The video was playing at the beginning of the meeting.  It was very good.  He handed out boxes of materials to the appropriate members to be distributed.  This can be presented at the regional high schools as part of injury prevention and education.

Future Meeting Dates
